"Holy moly my FriYay has been cray. I’m hungry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You might be thinking 🤔.... 'I don't do shakes/supplements, I prefer to eat all whole foods'. This is a great question, but flawed because of 3 simple facts: 1. Foods today are nutritionally deprived (includes organic) 2. While most supplements aren't much better some are 3. Compliance trumps noncompliance every time ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about whole foods - after all, I do love to eat! I don't believe this is an either or situation, but incorporating a balance of whole foods along with the appropriate shakes/supplements is really key to better health and getting the results you want regardless if it's losing weight or hitting your next PR. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First off, we must realize that foods today, even whole organic foods do not contain the same nutrition they did 100 years ago. Let alone the additional nutritional needs we place on our body because of increasing toxin load and different stresses that didn't exist in previous generations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Secondly, not all shakes/supplements are the same. Lumping them all into the same lot essentially is like calling a cheap fast food burger the same quality nutrition as a grass fed steak with organic veggies. While it is true that most of the shakes/supplements on the market are the equivalent of fast food nutrition, there are some very high quality shakes/supplements that trump even the best food in terms of nutrient density. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lastly, when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals even the best plan in the world won't be effective if it's not followed through on. Long term compliance is really the key. While meal prep and eating wonderful homemade foods is ideal, the reality of life makes it difficult for most people to sustain this.
