Nutrition for New Moms

Wake up. Feed baby. Check baby’s diaper. Rock baby to sleep. Place baby back in the bassinet (ninja style because we CAN’T WAKE BABY). Use the bathroom. Grab a few sips of water. Lie back down for a few more ZZZ. Baby wakes up. Repeat …

If you’re a new mom or know someone who is, then this probably sounds familiar. Life with a new baby is both rewarding and exhausting, and while it does get easier (I solemnly swear on my five kiddos), it can be hard for moms to juggle taking care of a little one while also trying to maintain adequate nutrition.

A Bundle of Joy for All Moms

Mamas, let’s put things in perspective.

Your amazing body just grew and gave life to a beautiful little human — WOW. Isn’t that incredible? With that in mind, it’s imperative we uphold the same grace and patience with our bodies post-baby as we did during pregnancy. This time should focus not only on baby but also on your health after one of life’s most miraculous moments.

How? The answer is simple: proper support and nutrition.

Whether you’re a nursing mom,* a formula-feeding mom, or both, all moms need to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet during this transition from pregnancy to postpartum.

But, you’re likely so tired or busy that you forget food. It’s essential to plan a simple, nutritious meal that include a variety of choices from all the recommended food groups.

Introducing Another Bundle for New Moms

Products like the ones in the New Mom Bundle provide convenient nutrition that can fit the challenges of motherhood.

Most new moms worry about what products they can enjoy. This carefully curated bundle lets new moms spend more time on what matters most — their little ones.

The New Mom Bundle includes:

As a new mom, nourishing your body is critical, especially if you’ve chosen to nurse your baby. Most women will need additional calories to help milk production. Here are a few tips that can support you along the way if you are nursing:*

  • Add things like nut butters, oats, or coconut oil to your IsaLean Shakes.
  • Eat extra meals or snacks throughout the day.
  • Enjoy half an IsaLean Bar for a great on-the-go snack option.
  • Mix AMPED Hydrate with your IsaLean Shake for a new flavor.

Creating a Routine

I know, I know … you’re probably reading this and thinking, “Is she serious?! How can I create a routine when this tiny little human runs my life?”

Hear me out! I’m not talking about creating an itinerary for every day. Start small and work toward bigger goals. For example, make one small goal for the day like:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Go for a short walk around your neighborhood.
  • Set aside a few minutes each day to stretch.
  • Get some vitamin D by enjoying fresh air and sunshine.

Once you’ve mastered your short and simple goals, take baby steps (no pun intended) toward creating more. Gradually form a routine that fits seamlessly into your schedule and is mindful to both you and your little one.

Adding Some Exercise

While nutrition plays an integral role for new moms, exercise is just as important. Incorporating physical activity into your dietary plan can positively impact postpartum healing and recovery. Plan strolls at a steady pace with baby to solely focus on YOU and BABY.

And from one mama to another, be sure to find the joy in every moment because this season of life is undeniably special! It passes before you even realize it (trust me, I know *sniff, sniff, tear*).

Here’s to a healthy and happy journey to all of you!

*If you are nursing, check with your healthcare provider before attempting weight loss, using any products, or modifying your diet after pregnancy, and ensure your healthcare provider is monitoring your progress. Products in this bundle are not designed for the nutritional needs of nursing women but may typically be incorporated into a nursing woman’s diet with a healthcare provider’s approval. Many products in this bundle are designed for controlling calories and replacing meals; these products should not be used as meal replacements or for weight loss while nursing.

“As parents, we want to provide the best for our kids. When I became a dad, everything I had ever dreamed of was in front of me: a beautiful child, a wonderful, loving relationship, and a great career. Yet, something did not feel right. I was not the dad I envisioned I would be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was inactive and unhealthy and weighed over 320 pounds. What kind of example was I setting for my son? It was like I’d failed him already as a dad. Deep down, I didn’t feel like I deserved his love and respect.
It took some serious soul-searching. I asked myself how I could give my children the best they deserve when I was operating at a subpar level and not living up to my own potential. It was a lose-lose situation for both sides. I wanted to be strong for him, yet I was barely surviving. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Isagenix and the IsaBody community helped me conquer something I had believed was impossible. They threw me a lifeline and provided support so I could be the best dad for my children and nurture my own inner child who missed out on a lot in life.
I now truly understand the meaning of the word ‘confidence.’ It is not just the look and strength the mind and body exude — it is also conquering something you once thought was forever impossible. Now I know impossibility is just one decision away from reality.
This is how you #InspireYourChildren, including your own inner child, and become your own hero in the process. Thanks, Isagenix and the IsaBody Challenge!”- Mert Karakilic

"Holy moly my FriYay has been cray. I’m hungry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You might be thinking 🤔.... 'I don't do shakes/supplements, I prefer to eat all whole foods'. This is a great question, but flawed because of 3 simple facts: 1. Foods today are nutritionally deprived (includes organic) 2. While most supplements aren't much better some are 3. Compliance trumps noncompliance every time ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about whole foods - after all, I do love to eat! I don't believe this is an either or situation, but incorporating a balance of whole foods along with the appropriate shakes/supplements is really key to better health and getting the results you want regardless if it's losing weight or hitting your next PR. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First off, we must realize that foods today, even whole organic foods do not contain the same nutrition they did 100 years ago. Let alone the additional nutritional needs we place on our body because of increasing toxin load and different stresses that didn't exist in previous generations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Secondly, not all shakes/supplements are the same. Lumping them all into the same lot essentially is like calling a cheap fast food burger the same quality nutrition as a grass fed steak with organic veggies. While it is true that most of the shakes/supplements on the market are the equivalent of fast food nutrition, there are some very high quality shakes/supplements that trump even the best food in terms of nutrient density. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lastly, when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals even the best plan in the world won't be effective if it's not followed through on. Long term compliance is really the key. While meal prep and eating wonderful homemade foods is ideal, the reality of life makes it difficult for most people to sustain this. Whether they are strapped for time and don't have the energy to shop, cook, prep and clean up after all their meals eventually most people will resort to what's convenient." #repost @emilyvavra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you love most about our Isagenix nutrition? #isagenix
